Founded in 1957 as Aktobe State Medical Institute, West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University (WKSMU) in Aktobe is a premier medical institution. Renamed in 1997 after Marat Ospanov, it is recognized by WHO, NMC (India), and ECFMG. With over 3,500 students, WKSMU is a leader in medical education and research.
Academic Programs
WKSMU offers a 6-year MBBS program in English (5 years + 1-year internship), accredited by NMC and WHO. The curriculum includes anatomy, physiology, and clinical practice, with some 3rd-year clinical lectures in Kazakh/Russian. Programs also cover postgraduate and doctoral studies in medical sciences. No IELTS/TOEFL is required.
